The CFI National Secretariat in early 2021 partnered 4 NGOs (Earth Service, Tropenbos Ghana, Rights and Advocacy Initiative and Rural Environmental Care) to carry out landscape sensitization workshops in 4 priority areas namely:
- Ahafo Ano South/Atwima Mponua/Atwima Nwabiagya,
- Atiwa/Denkyembour/East Akim,
- Bibiani/Anwiaso/Sefwi Wiawso.
The landscape sensitization was well represented by landscape actors in all the four priority areas. The attendance was high which demonstrated the commitment and willingness by landscape actors to join hands and support the national and global crusade to reduce deforestation and forest degradation. The message on CFI, the commitments and the expectations of landscape actors in the implementation was well understood by the actors. The landscape actors especially the cocoa farmers expressed appreciation to CFI and IDH for supporting the four NGOs to sensitize them and also providing the opportunity for FC and COCOBOD to inform them of key policies and initiatives in the forest and cocoa sectors that will motivate them to plant and nurture trees.
