The CFI Steering Committee had its 14th meeting on Tuesday 31st October 2022. The Committee consisting of senior in country representatives from relevant Ministries, government institutions, private companies and civil society organizations and falls directly under the Oversight Committee. The committee gives strategic guidance to the Initiative’s Coordination Team and the Technical Working Groups assuring strategic roll out of the Implementation Plan and its alignment with public policy. Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) and Forestry Commission (FC) jointly chair this committee.
The main objective of the meeting was to review activities of the National Secretariat and prepare for the upcoming Oversight Committee meeting. Specific objectives included:
- Update on CFI activities
- Reflections to give guidance on key priorities.
- Formulate recommendations for the National Oversight Committee.
The 14th Steering Committee meeting resulted in in the following:
- A well-informed SC poised to provide guidance to the National Secretariat.
- Guidance provided for implementation of 2023/2024 activities.
- Strategic recommendations for Oversight Committee.
The meeting was chaired by Forestry Commission and was held at Tang Palace Hotel. The National CFI Secretariat reported on activities including progress on assigned areas of work, major constraints, expectations, and recommendations. The update was followed by plenary discussions after which the Steering Committee agreed on recommendations for the upcoming Oversight Committee meeting.
